If you have already completed the Core module you do not need to re-take it. For example, you have completed the Core module before attending the Lower extremity module. You will not need to re-take the Core module before completing the Upper extremity module.
Yes. Completion of the Core module is a mandatory requirement to attend a specialty module.

You will be required to complete a competency-based assessment after sitting each body system. There is no assessment for the Core module.
For each module, the final assessment requires you to complete 3 case studies. Responses to the case studies must be deemed satisfactory to successfully complete the module.
Yes. If your submission is deemed unsatisfactory you will receive feedback to help you with your second submission.
Every candidate must submit the competency-based assessment once plus two more attempts if the results are unsatisfactory.

Mental and behavioural disorders/Psychiatric and psychological disorders
If you are a psychiatrist and have successfully completed the NSW motor accident permanent impairment training for Mental and Behavioural disorders (including the competency-based assessmentcase studies) you do not need to undertake this training prior to applying to SIRA to be listed to assess permanent impairment for Psychologicaland Psychiatric disorders.
Note: Practitioners have different requirements to belisted to assess permanent impairment in the NSW workers compensation scheme. See SIRA website on how to become a trained assessor of permanent impairment.

The Visual system training in the NSW workers compensation and motor accident schemes are based on the AMA4. SIRA recognise the successful completion of training in either scheme as requisite training for the other scheme.
Psychiatric and psychological disorders/Mentaland behavioural disorders
The Psychiatric impairment rating scale is used to assess permanent impairment for Psychiatric and psychological disorders in the NSW workers compensation scheme and Mental and Behavioural disorders in the NSW motor accident schemes. SIRA recognise the successful completion of training in either scheme as requisite training for the other scheme.
Note: Practitioners must apply separately to SIRA to be listed as
· an assessor of permanent impairment in the workers compensation and
· a health practitioner authorised to give evidence and assess permanent impairment in the motor accident scheme.
There are different requirements to be listed to assess permanent impairment in the NSW workers compensation scheme and the motor accident scheme (see below).
